Peter, the shy MD – Executives learning to play nicely

Peter, a cool, calm and somewhat shy MD, had taken on the task of pulling together a number of mergers and acquisitions. An interesting consequence of the change was that his team grew to include some of the leaders and owners of the acquired businesses. Peter intuitively knew how difficult it would be to bring a number of ‘Kings’ and ‘Queens’ to collaborate together.

But Peter was wise. He knew that this group would play nicely together, if he could only lead them through a transformational journey. To do this, he needed to raise his ‘mental’ presence.

Peter researched the land that the Kings and Queens came from and came to understand their unique cultural presence. He then put together some personal development schemes to provide the personal support that they needed to help each of them through this important transition.

Some would inevitably decide to leave to find a new land; but, importantly, those who chose to stay became emotionally attached to the new organisation and learned to play nicely with their fellow team mates.
